nikarabot This wonderful album hit me hard in 2003. Boards of Canada / Autechre were on the pure exploratory electronic side of music. Sole with seling live water came unexpectedly with a noisier and more electronic variant at that time, which was understood as hip hop. Very well aged, still valid and no favorite to choose. Solid!

Attic/Critter The apex of diy hip hop from ol’Timmy and Co. if it wasn’t this it was Alias’s TOSoTLG or Odd Nosdam’s NMWFO. This stuff saved hip hop and shaped a decade of backpack rap in a post 9/11 proto-dystopian reality we weren’t ready for. Favorite track: I Hope You Like My Stupid Painting.

Tim This is music with texture, honesty, grit. Sole's magnum opus, IMO. Favorite track: Shoot The Messenger.

Sometimes you come across an artist that is compelled to do what they do. I appreciate the musicality and the arrangement and the artistry of the songs. He sings and plays like his life depends on it. I appreciate the humanity of the lyrics… Like reading Tortilla Flats, or watching Nobody’s Fool. Ceschi is a bright star.
